2008 All Star Game- Sore Arms

Well I missed the first 5 innings of the game and still got to watch 10 innings of great baseball. The umps made a few bad calls, no surprise there. The big question now is what to do in the future to protect pitchers arms during long all star games, I think they should bring a few extra pitchers with them in case, or let anyone who wants to pitch go in. That might get a little crazy, seeing David Wright on the mound, but it also might be fun. Either way I think the worst choice is to cut the game short lets say at 12 innings and call it a tie, I know the majority of fans do not want to see that happen, I don't.

Papa Joe's Shrimp and Crab Factory

Went here last night with a couple of friends, we sat upper deck and had a great view of the harbor and the Ferry. The live music was nice, the Bartender chicks were awesome and the food was pretty good. The place is casual, sit where you want and just hang out, very relaxed atmosphere. Overall it was great. Port Jefferson Street repairs/ Village Tax Hike?

I was reading an article in the Times Beacon Record, about the needed repairs of street's in Port Jeff. The cost would be about $18.5 million dollars(about double the village budget), and that's not all inclusive. A study was done and found 27% of the roadways needed repair, or about 37 miles of roads that received an average score of 5.6, that's somewhere between fair and fair to poor. There are a few roads mentioned in the article, Old Post Road, Bay view Rd, Beech St. and part of Main Street. A portion of Beech Street has to be repaved up to 12 times a year, which may have to do with a heavy truck presence. When these roads are fixed, they must be maintained properly as mentioned in the article by crack sealing, when cracks in the roads are left unmaintained they will grow and create a need for further repair. I hope the repairs do not create to much of a traffic problem, as getting around town this time of year can be quite a hassle as it is, a plan with the interests of the residents and tourists needs to be well thought out.

Speeding Cars in the Village

Sometimes I take the dogs for a walk to the water and let them swim around, to get there I have to cross E. Broadway, in front of Danfords and let me tell you it can be quite the experience. The cars that are coming from the Village are not really going so fast, but cars coming from the other direction speed down the hill. There are signs posted as shown in the picture, but alot of people still zoom past. We wait until it is clear and run across the street, I think there should be more signs posted further up the hill to let people know there are pedestrians crossing the street and to start to slow down. I would just like to see something done before a bad accident happens.

Safety Tips for Port Jeff residents

OK, so last summer I was looking out of my window at about (maybe 1am) and noticed 2 young men trying to get into the older women's house right across the street from me. I saw them trying to turn the front doorknob, seeing if they could get in through the screened porch and right as they were making there way to the rear of the house I made a loud noise to try and scare them. It worked and by this time I was already on the phone with the police and my friend called code from her cell phone. Code came by in about 5 minutes and then scpd did some drive bys up and down the block, but I guess the 2 took off. One of them had a backpack, and I could only imagine what would have happened if they gained entry into this older women's home, there has been some scary stories on the news with home break ins and what not. So I was just reading the Police Report section of the Port Times Record and saw a similar story of a home that had a screen cut and a purse stolen. I know many homes in the area have porches with screens around them, and alot of people feel very safe since it is Port Jefferson Village, but people from other areas come to these places to try and make a quick buck. If everyone would just make sure all doors, windows, and all other entry points are locked, it could make the world of difference. I have noticed a good police presence this summer with cops walking the beat, and on bike patrol and that does help, so lets just be as safe as possible and if you see something, say something. 2nd Review- Gourmet Burger Bistro

Gourmet Burger Bistro- I went to eat here with a couple of friends when they first opened, first off let me say the food is great and the milkshakes are also very good. We ordered loaded fries and asked them to hold the scallions, the fries came out with scallions so we asked her to take it back. The waitress seemed to be very annoyed at our request and kind of snarled at us, maybe she was having a bad day. The second time I went there it was just me and my girlfriend, we had the same waitress and she was much more polite and we had a great time and great food. So overall its a great place to eat and create your own burger, also they have many different flavor shakes. GBB-located at 5 Mill Creek Road, Port Jefferson, NY 11777 (403-4033)

My First Review- Fetch Doggie Boutique

Fetch- I went into Fetch last week to see if they had a harness for my puppy, the store has 2 floors, the first floor is full of collars, clothes, and baked goodies for the dogs. The 2nd floor is where the dog food is located, all of the food was healthy which I thought was great. The people were very friendly and helpful and you can bring your dog right into the store which was cool. There is a place to have a seat outside and a doggie bar for your pup to cool off and have some water. I found a great harness and had a great shopping experience. I would recommend Fetch to all.
